You have put together a point that most men have failed to see in past generations. However, today’s men have a largely broaden their horizon. But, that’s what we see in the city. Especially, the larger cities we live in.
It is heartbreaking to see how women treated and are discarded. And how that seed is sowed at the basic but very insignificant part- the biological condition of women. But what is even heartbreaking is to see how women validate it consciously and unconsciously.
You’d be surprised to note that, this was not the scenario in ancient India. The inhumane behaviour and oppression against women in India began post to the invasion of Mughals and British and other communities. And a larger effect began showing a few decades ago. After globalisation, when our communities were overwhelmed by the western counties.
Rosa Parks in America had to fight for her right to have a seat on the bus. That’s when they stood up against the oppression against blacks and eventually, against women. This was somewhere around the late 1940’s. When the early seeds of feminism were sowed. Meanwhile, we had women like Sarojini Naidu. They were already thriving and aggressively participating in Independence movements. They worked shoulder to shoulder with leaders like Nehru, Jinnah and Gandhi.
It is the air from the west that have badly messed up the lifestyle of India. Or doomed I must say. While they are progressing. We are only going backwards.
